Is "CO2 ppm" the mass fraction or molar fraction of CO2?

  What is the precise technical meaning of CO2 ppm measured by the Aranet4? Is it the partial pressure of CO2 in parts per million of the total air pressure (i.e. the molar fraction), or is it the mass fraction of CO2 in parts per million--which would be a 28% lower number?
