My Aranet4 device shows high CO2 values when cooking food indoors near the device. Are such measurements correct?

  Aranet4 will show increased CO2 values when food is cooked on gas stove because carbon dioxide forms in the burning process of natural gas.

  If CO2 forms in the burning process of natural gas, and there are 2 lit pilot lights on our stove top and one lit pilot light below the oven, that sounds like a significant source of CO2. Could that be a reason that we often get high readings in our apartment?

  The apt is approx 760 sq ft, baseboard hot water heat and a wall mounted AC unit. No central air or main exhaust fan. 2 adults and a small cat. Opening windows to ventilate drops the temperature too much in cold weather. The lowest readings we get are around 600ppm with windows open and between 1200-1500 with them closed. Thanks in advance.

  Hello,

  Gas burning is increasing the CO2 level, you are right. Consider some additional ventilation options, maybe a local exhaust fan near the stove?
